ETP - Checking for Student Understanding

Rationale

Research shows that active student participation in classroom assessment and effective questioning techniques reinforce student learning, increase student motivation, and provide instructors with valuable feedback on the effectiveness of their instruction (Angelo & Cross, 1993Nilson, 2010). In an online environment, discussion forums, journaling, and practice tests provide a conversation and questioning space similar to the classroom space for checking for understanding (Boettcher & Conrad, 2016).
