Totally agree. I also review the recordings and discuss them with the students to understand the instructions. Most of the time, I could see the student, and it was just that maybe they moved their head, and the recording is extremely sensitive.

I provide a weekly video either explaining the lesson or sometimes, if it is an assignment, I will share my screen on the video and go through it for the students. I have found that they appreciate this and find it very helpful. I like to let them know that online does not mean independent study:)

I have always strived to help students feel safe, warm, and welcome. I do this by allowing them to see I am human, sharing a little bit of me, and when making a mistake, I admit it. Students seem to love that aspect.
