I teach FYE and encourage my students to use AI as a tool to promote critical thinking, etc. Because FYE (First Year Experience) is an exploratory course, I think AI is appropriate. I can see where for other subjects it may not be appropriate. AI is still very new in education and needs some structure.

This is awesome! I would love to learn chair yoga from an educator! Their contribution to the importance of exercise and relaxation for primarily sedentary individuals would be great! You know sitting is considered the new smoking!!!

Without Uncle Google, I lost most of the trivia except for maybe the music and film areas. lol! However, besides AI, which is an ACUE certificate I plan to work toward, I believe the information on AR and VR would be helpful as the Alpha generation will be accustomed to those modalities.

The forum opportunities stand out to me the most. I believe that they underscore the other resources that ACUE provides, which I found so beneficial as I started my adjunct instructor journey. I like the forums are available in the library, if I ever need a refresher!

I think it would be important to discuss any literature about the need to incorporate AI in the classroom and use it as a tool instead of viewing it as an enemy.

Nearpod? I will have to check that out. Our audience is definitely a different generation, where they will collaborate/communicate more on digital platforms than in person. However, the basic need is still there – relationship. It is just done differently! We, as educators, have to adapt.

Through ACUE, I learned to pause when asking students questions. This was hard because I wanted to fill the “dead space.” However, through practice, I learned to wait for answers and give students time to respond. It was awkward at first, but sure enough, it worked!

From our recent mid-term survey, students really like class group activity assignments. After an ACUE training, I implemented this practice in all of my classes and curriculum. The classes have been much more lively, and I can see more community and collaboration being built, which excites me for student success.
