Thanksgiving is very variable for my husband and me. I haven’t had to work in clinic on Thanksgiving for many years but until last year I had a third position for which I had to be available on the day after so for the past 10 years or so travel at Thanksgiving time was out. I do prefer to stay local anyway so it worked out well. We sometimes join friends for the holiday (I always bring my banana and cranberry breads and sometimes green bean casserole also.) and sometimes we stay home and I cook a semi-traditional meal for the 2 of us. He watches sports while I’m cooking and puttering around the house and later we relax and watch movies. Every year I also pop by the e-clinic with goodies for their holiday buffet (and sometimes I eat some more🤭)! On Thanksgiving, if I have time, and the following day I like to start getting everything ready to send holiday cards – send out about 60 or more every year. – R

We travel about 3.5 hours to my parents’ house and have a mostly relaxing day. I weirdly love to watch the dog show every year, though I do not have (or want) a dog 🤔😂

Lol! I do the same—I love watching the parade and the dog show, even though I live with cats! 😹 . Wishing you safe travels and a relaxing time at your parents’ house! 🐕✨ 🦃

That’s so funny! I love watching the dog shows too and consider myself a “dog person” but for the past 14.5 years I’ve had cats!😸

I have a short commute to my family’s house, where we have a large celebration with family! Everyone chips in, cooking the turkey, making the sides, or the desserts.
