Dare I say that a challenge is… Spring Break. It seems that just as students are developing a semester rhythm there is a wind down. Students take a few days off just before the break to start the break and others miss the first day back as they return from break.
Then, there is the return. Did students keep up reviewing material or does the first day represent a blur of the spring semester’s first half?
Do any faculty assign work during the break as if it didn’t exist – even bonus/extra credit work? Or, do any faculty use the first day back as a reflect and review of the semester’s first half? I go with the later.

Totally agree, Jonathan. My response included spring break as a possible influencing factor during the spring semester. Your response included interesting ideas on student’s return from spring break and their “state of mind”. Thank you.
