I definitely connect with students to try to help them finish the semester on a high note and make sure all of their assignments are completed. I also ask them about winter plans and discuss some of the fun things they’re doing to rest and reset for spring.

I teach three courses (media writing, social media, and FYE); of the three, I LOVE teaching FYE. I incorporate its principles in my other two courses. At the end of the semester, I check in with them to see how they are doing in their other courses and remind them that their instructors want them to be successful and to reach out if they need help. I also give them tips, allow a “study hall” time to catch up on assignments, play study music, and give them lots of sugar! 🤣
