@kelly-williamson A colleague and I are delivering a presentation on Bridging the Reading Gap: Practical Support for Struggling College Students. In it Smartbook will be highlighted as a tool to support reading comprehension and metacognition. I will check with my colleague. Perhaps McGraw-Hill could join to highlight their tool.

I create “follow along” exercises. Students use algorithmic exercises so all have same exercise but with different numbers. I create a video of me solving and analyzing the solution process bringing into it key elements from the current chapter and where appropriate previous chapters.

I’ve jumped back into ChatGPT and it has tremendously improved by productivity. At times I will give it a discussion prompt to see its response and then engage it on the topic.

Data analytics or as I like to call it – learning analytics – is a key topic because you can’t manage student success is you can’t measure success. So many learning tools are sources of data, but tools to manipulate the data and provide dashboards would be so much more helpful is guiding student success.

While teaching in Kosovo for Rochester Institute of Technology students delivered end of term presentations in various courses. I provided feedback, but I also asked non presenting students to provide feedback, as well. I provided students with a rubric and lots of space for comments. Here at PBSC I’m working with a colleague in Education to present a topic on Students’ struggles with reading and comprehension. I would like to see this topic opened to a wider audience. As a student I found that learning from classmates was incredibly beneficial. Now I ask discussion questions about learning strategies that were successful.
