This semester I was only assigned online sections of my HUN 1201 course, both synchronous and asynchronous. Achieving community has always been a source of great satisfaction. In an earlier (this morning) synchronously taught section, I barely covered a couple of PP slides when a student brought up a comment prime for discussion. Almost the entire time of this section was spent in discussion. Almost all students participated, providing their views and past experiences. The interactions were lively, but respectful (as per my behavioral expectations during discussions). I noticed the students actually were eager to participate. It was hard to keep up with the chatroom! It was an amazing hour, The discussion was spontaneous, not a graded one. Awesome.
I’ve been incorporating the learning I’ve acquired by the variety of topics presented in the Commons Quick Studies gradually, and I’m seeing results.
Hope all is well with everyone. Regards.
