At the end of the semester in my art appreciation class, I focus on fostering connection and reflection. I encourage students to complete evaluations by asking questions like, “Do you have a favorite artist now?” and “What kind of art interests you?” This helps me improve the course while prompting students to reflect on their learning.
To support my students during the often-stressful close of the semester, I offer an optional artmaking session after class. It serves as both self-care and a chance to earn extra credit, giving students a creative outlet and a positive final experience.
To start 2025 strong, I’ll use student feedback to refine my approach, incorporate more engaging activities, and continue nurturing a classroom culture that inspires a love for art!
