Hope all is well. I completed the Creating Constructive Conversation quick study course, aspects of which were referred to often in the webinar. My discipline is Human Nutrition. Imagine the amount of controversies that can arise during discussion (which I encourage). Media literacy becomes very important, as there is huge amount of misinformation out there, not only found in the web, but many other sources (the student’s family and friends, their culture, even their physicians). I provide a Welcome Message that mentions the possibility of “discord” as we cover the course. Recommended, valid web resources are found at the end of each text chapter. We do assume that the student will posses critical thinking skills, when the do not. The webinar explained critical thinking. Developing a document explaining what it is, its basics, in an appropriate language, is something I plan to do using student input.
