It’s something I will add! I typically say in person on day one. I run a summer research program and build that into daily contact expectations. After I received a message at 3:00 a.m. one morning asking if I was related to a political candidate, I decided to create contact expectations and boundaries in the future. While I like these students to feel comfortable coming to me, 3:00 a.m. is not the time for odd questions.
